One major variety is the 1818/7 Capped Bust Half Dollar Overdate error with the "Small 8". This variety features an 1818 date struck over an 1817 date in the die which resulted in an "8" over "7" overdate on the coin. Parts of the underlying "7" can clearly be seen near the top of the "8" and within the upper circle of the "8". This variety also features a smaller "8" (the first number "8" in the 1818 date).
