What this coin looks like (obverse, reverse, mint mark location, special features, etc.):
One major variety of the 1834 Capped Bust Half Dollar has a number of features. This variety has a small date on the obverse of the coin and also has small stars as well - and small letters on the reverse of the coin. Depicted below is an example comparison image of the 1834 small date vs large date half dollar varieties - note the prominent size difference between the numbers:
In addition: Depicted below is a an example of the 1834 Small Stars vs Large Stars half dollar comparison. Notice how the small stars are slightly smaller but there is more space between the stars and the rim of the coin - and there is more space between the bottom-left-most star and the liberty bust portrait. There is far less space between the large stars and the rim:
This variety has smaller letters in the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and in the "50 C." denomination. Unlike in previous years - these smaller letters are much easier to identify and there is more spacing between the rim and the letters. The large letters variety is much like earlier versions where the letters are obviously larger and there is less space between them and the rim of the coin. Depicted below is an example comparison image of the 1834 Small Letters vs Large Letters half dollar varieties:
