There were two major varieties of the 1873 Seated Liberty Half Dollar "No Arrows" type - dealing with the style of the 1873 date. One variety had a closed "3" in which the spacing between the ends of the number "3" was very narrow (as depicted above). The second variety features an open "3" in which the spacing within the "3" was much wider.
