What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.): The 2020 (S) Silver Eagle is an Emergency Production Issue coin produced by the San Francisco Mint to help meet demand for the Silver Eagles during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mint announced this production on October 29th and listed these coins for sale for authorized dealers on November 2nd - a total of 1000000 Silver Eagle bullion coins were produced at the San Francisco Mint in 2020. These coins are identified in a similar manner to those produced between 2015-2017 - by using serial numbers on 500-coin "monster boxes" sold to dealers. The San Francisco coins are identified by the serial numbers between 800000 and 801999. Because there are no "S" mint marks on these coins and they are nearly indistinguishable from West Point silver eagles - these serial numbers are the best way to identify these coins.
