1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar Varieties - Difference and Comparison
There were a number of varieties of the 1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. The first is simply the "Normal Dies" variety featuring no major errors or special features - although this variety has many minor sub-varieties (unlisted here) included within it. An example of one is depicted above.

One major variety is the "Wide Date - Low 8" variety which features numbers spaced further apart in the 1800 date and the number "8" aligned lower relative to the other numbers. An example comparison image depicting the normal date vs wide date low 8 variety is depicted below:

Other major varieties can be classified based on the number of arrows that the eagle is holding in its claw on the reverse of the coin. Varieties include the 10 Arrows - 12 Arrows and 13 arrows varieties. The difference between these varieties and the number of arrows is depicted below in the example comparison image:

The 1800 "Dotted Date" Draped Bust Silver Dollar features a die defect around the date - particularly around and within the first "0". This resulted in blobs and dots all around the number - and so this coin is classified into it's own variety. An example closeup image of the dotted date is depicted below:

The last major variety features a die defect on the reverse of the coin which resulted in a thick line that slightly resembles a letter "I" after the word "AMERICA" on the reverse of the coin. Hence the name of the variety became known as "AMERICAI". An example closeup image of this feature is depicted below:
