1814 E/A Capped Bust Half Dollar - E Over A Error
One major variety is the 1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar with an "E" over "A" in the word "STATES" on the reverse of the coin. This error was the result of engraving the wrong letter by hand into the die. The error was then spotted and partially corrected but parts of the underlying "A" can be seen towards the right side of the "E" as depicted above by the arrows in the example image.
