1817 Single Leaf Capped Bust Half Dollar
Another major variety is the 1817 Capped Bust Half Dollar with a single leaf on the branch under the eagle's wing on the reverse of the coin. Typically there are two leaves (double leaf) but this variety only has a single leaf. This resulted due to lapped dies in which the US Mint used in an attempt to correct die clashing issues.
