What This Coin Looks Like (Obverse, Reverse, Mint Mark Location, Special Features, etc.):One major variety of the 1820 Capped Bust Half Dollar features an oddity on the reverse of the coin. The letter E's in the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" do not have serifs on the top and bottoms of the back-end of the letter "E" - as depicted by the arrows in the example image above. In addition: The letter "A" also has a defect as well. The bottom-right side of each of the letter A's is cut off - which is another way to identify this coin. The difference between the normal reverse vs reverse with no serifs is depicted above in the example comparison image above.
