1844 O Seated Liberty Half Dollars : Doubled Date

One major variety of the 1844 O Seated Liberty Half Dollar features a doubled date error on the obverse of the coin. The doubling of the date is extreme with much of the numbers within and just below the base of the liberty portrait. These features are depicted by the arrows in the example image of the coin above.
