1877/6 Seated Liberty Half Dollar - 7 Over 6 Overdate Error
One major variety is the 1877/6 Seated Liberty Half Dollar Overdate Error. This error features an 1877 date struck over an 1876 date. This is one of the more extremely difficult errors to identify. The top tip of the underlying number "6" is seen within the top bar of the last number "7" in the 1877 date. Only a very small and nearly microscopic portion is visible - but it is a rare and valuable variety. This feature from the tip of the "6" is depicted by the arrows in the example image above. The left side of the example image is a raw image while the right side shows the portion of the "6" lightened up to distinguish it better.
