There were two major varieties of the 1829 $5 Gold Capped Bust Half Eagle. One variety features the Large Date (as depicted above) with larger numbers. This variety was only struck on the Large Diameter type Capped Bust Half eagle. The other variety is the Small Date with the smaller numbers - which was only struck on the later reduced diameter coin.
