The 1795 $10 Turban Head Gold Eagle is the very first US gold coin produced and also the first of the $10 Eagle denomination. The "Eagle" is the original standard unit that all other US gold coins are based on (examples: Quarter Eagle - Half Eagle - Eagle - Double Eagle).
