What this coin looks like (obverse, reverse, mint mark location, special features, etc.):
There were two major varieties of the 1830 Coronet Head Large Cent (Penny). One variety features smaller letters on the reverse of the coin while the other has larger letters. The Medium Letters variety features more spacing between the words "STATES" and "OF" - more spacing than any of the large letter varieties. In addition: The medium letters variety features much smaller letter A's in the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" with more spacing between the letters surrounding them. There were actually 11 major "Large Letters" sub-varieties and only 1 "Medium Letters" variety (known as Newcomb-6 or N-6). The difference between the two varieties and sizing of the medium letters vs large letters can be seen in the example comparison image of the coins above.
