There were two major varieties of the 1837 Seated Liberty Half Dime. The one depicted above is the Small Date variety which featured a different and smaller style of numbers. An important feature to keep an eye out for: The "1" in the small date variety will be flat on top while the "1" in the large date variety will come to a point.
