US Commemorative Coin Series and Programs

The US Mint produced a number of different commemorative coin programs and special series. Some were very large programs such as the 50 State Quarters Program and the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, each lasting a decade or more. Other smaller series include 1 or 2 year events such as commemorating the birth of great US Presidents, historical events such as the Lewis and Clark Expedition, or simply celebrating a new symbolic image each year on US coinage. This page is dedicated to the modern US commemorative coin series, collections and programs that were celebrated on official, circulating US coinage.

• 50 State Quarters Program - Commemorating each US State, District of Columbia and US Territories.
• 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program - (Extension of the 50 State Quarters Program)
• America the Beautiful Quarters (National Park Quarters) - Celebrating and commemorating major US Parks and National Monuments.
• Presidential Dollars Coin Program - Commemorating each US President in the order they were inaugurated.
• Sacagawea Native American Dollars Program - Native American accomplishments and contributions to US development and history.
• American Innovation Dollars - Commemorating American innovation and innovators in each US State, District of Columbia and US Territories.
• First Spouse Gold Coins Program - Commemorating the first ladies or spouses of each US President during their term in office.
• 2009 Bicentennial Lincoln Cents - Commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of US President Abraham Lincoln.
• Westward Journey Nickel Series - 2004-2005 Jefferson Nickels commemorating the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
• American Platinum Eagle Coin Program - A new design every year for proof platinum eagle coins.
