caltrain's Feedback Ratings History
Hello Dave, from here in almost-tolerable Fort Worth, Texas!
I received the Italian 10 Lire coin in today's mail, and on top of your great communications, I couldn't be happier with the coin. Many years ago in the mid 50's, Kraft Foods ran a kids-targeted "Coins from far-off lands" promotion, whereby they included a free foreign coin in bags of candy caramels. Once I was hooked, I had to send off a few week's allowance to get the folded cardboard world map with its die-cut placement holes to display the entire series, 60 different coins from some 40 countries. However, this particular coin was one of the holdouts I never captured, due to my self-defensive cessation of caramel consumption! To this day, I can't even look at a caramel of any kind without an evil surge in my digestive system!
So many thanks for helping me relive and fill a final hole left from the beginnings of what became a lifelong passion with coin collecting.
Best regards,
Chris Brotemarkle

Reply by badbeat: Hello my Fort Worth friend.
How do I respond to this feedback? Did I finally fulfill you mid 50's caramel obsession (you must be older the dirt)!! I can't believe that cardboard fold out is still hanging on your wall. I hope you spent your weekly allowance on bigger and better activities, over all this time. There should be a medal for your longevity in waiting for that Italian Lire.
I pause in my back slapping in fear that I may have ended a life time of Numismatic enjoyment. Let's hope not, for that world changes as each day passes. So keep on trucking to those garage sales, and even USA Coin Book, because you never know what you might find in the Unique World of Coins, and you never know what Kraft Foods might have for you in the future! As long as it's not Candy Caramels
Thank you Chris, you have made my day.
And yes, I too am older then dirt. I'm glad I am still on top of it as the alternative is not in the equation.
Best Regards
Take care
Your Canuck Friend
