This is a replica of the 1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny, that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. This type of halfpenny was intended for Ireland and had a seated figure with a harp on the reverse side, and the word HIBERNIA. Hibernia coins were unpopular in Ireland, so some of these were sent to the American colonies. This is a way of owning a replica of this unusual colonial coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The replica is made of copper and weighs 7.06+/- grams.
