This is a replica of the 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. Flowing Hair Half Dollars were minted in 1794 and 1795 only. They were minted with the following words stamped on the edge of the coin: FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR. The Flowing Hair halfs displayed a small eagle on the reverse. Only 23,464 halfs were minted in 1794 and all in Philadelphia. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes.
