This item is a 1796 Draped Bust Small Eagle Reverse Quarter Dollar Exonumia (non-standard issue) Fantasy Coin. It is not a replica or a reproduction of a standard-issue US Mint coin as the coin has the word UNITHD on the reverse and there is a definitive separation in the letters of AME RICA. Standard issue half dollars of this design in 1796 were issued by the Philadelphia Mint but displayed the correct spelling of UNITED and no separation in the letters of the word AMERICA. The 1796 quarters were the first quarter minted by the US Mints and only 6,146 were minted. This is a way to own one of these very rare specimens for filling a hole in a collection or for educational purposes. The coin is made of copper with silver plating.
