This blue red toned beauty is a rarity indeed. I picked this and submitted to NGC. Had I cleaned the toning away, I believe proof like fields would reflect immediately that lay underneath. In reflective light the fields light up both Obverse and Reverse. Having had the experience of a TPG conservation effort in the past, then having them all labeled cleaned upon grading, I have given up on that approach. PCGS website shows only 14 graded higher with NGC website showing 10 graded higher. Between both TPGs, a total of only 185 coins in all grades for this O-104 Small 3 Variety. Add to this an AU reverse on this remarkably un-marked 220 year old example. Notice the parallel die gouges on the reverse which serve as a PUP for legitimacy. Having many other coins to get listed I will cut this off and let you get back to the pictures. Sorry about some of them, being quick attempts to catch the underlying proof like fields with the window light getting in the way. This is my first attempt to sell on this medium so bear with me if I struggle with communication and methodology. However you can ask me about it, make me an offer, as I am a small dealer selling out, winding down to get prepared for the next life. I am an honest person, with over 1100 perfect 100 feedback on Ebay. Buy with confidence from a reliable dealer. It was pointed out to me that my Iphone pictures might not be picking up rim dings very well so I've added a few more with my Canon and hopefully clear that up. One is under the 0 of the date, not really a rim ding, but more like a stapler strike on the denticles. An obvious ding is on the rim edge 3 denticles wide in front of the 1 in the date. The last one is a minor ding on the incused edge half way between the date and first left star. Hope that helps your understanding. Actually I am seeing a scratch coming off the ding ahead of the1 in the date that I hadn't noted before, with a 7x loupe, as it's not visible with my unaided vision. I will take that into account, but not much, as I can return the holder to NCG if it doesn't warrant the grade they gave it and either they buy it at the grade or pay me the difference between that and the corrected lower grade. In spite of the tiny nicks and scrapes it does match up with ANA Grading standards for an EF. NGC Price guide is $3100. PCGS Price guide is $4000.
