This is a replica of the 1803 Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle Half Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. The Draped Bust Half Dollars were minted from 1796 to 1807. They displayed a lettered edge that stated: FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR. The 1803 Half was issued by the Philadelphia Mint but only 188,234 coins were minted and all of the coins were minted in Philadelphia. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The replica is made of brass with silver plating and weighs 13.19+/- grams.
