This overdate is the first of many in the popular Capped Bust series. The O-101, being the only overdate die variety of 1808, came as a result of having the 8 punched over the 7 from an unused die from 1807. Though details are a tad soft in the center as they typically come, this piece is well-centered for the issue. It displays great eye appeal with mark and blemish free surfaces and attractive peripheral rainbow toning. Colors of amber, dijon, and lemon yellow along with some copper brown, and sapphire blue including sandy yellow can be seen on both sides of the coin. This was likely stored in a Wayte Raymond album. It's superb eye appeal and popular variety suggests this piece is definitely one to get and not to be missed out on. The last comparable CAC was a non-toned AU55 CAC that sold $3,624 10/21 LE. CAC has approved of only 6 examples for this grade.
