This is a replica of the 1836 Capped Bust Reeded Edge 50 CENTS Reverse Half Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. In 1836, the design of the half dollar was changed to the capped bust and the reverse displayed the words 50 CENTS. Only about 1200 of this 50 CENTS design were issued in 1836. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes.
