This is a replica of the 1836 Gobrecht Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. The coin has a plain edge and the designer's name is displayed in the field above the date. In addition, there are 26 stars on the reverse with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR. The 1836 Gobrecht Dollar was issued by the Philadelphia Mint but only 1000 coins were minted at this location.
