1844 Braided Hair

A neat over-date variety often called 44/81. This is actually 844 over inverted 184, after the date was originally placed upside down, then later corrected. This resulted in the upside down date still being visible. Coin isn't in the greatest of conditions but still a slightly valuable coin as long as you can clearly see the 81 underneath the 44 in the date, which this example shows pretty strongly.
