1852 Boston Receipt signed by Daniel Treadwell. I can't quite make out what the receipt is for, but it seems to have had something to do with some work on patents. Daniel Treadwell was a inventor whose inventions included the first American power printing press. He also devised the first machine for spinning hemp into cordage, He was a co-founder of the Boston Journal of Philosophy and the Arts and held the chair of Rumford professor at Harvard for over 10 years. Longfellow fictionalized him as the theologian in "Tales From a Wayside Inn."
