1853 Arrows & Rays Seated Liberty Quarter RAW COIN Choice AU Crusty Toned Patina

1853 Seated Liberty Quarter Arrows & Rays. Coin is solidly choice AU with a beautiful natural looking skin. This coin is RAW. It was submitted and then cracked out. Pictures provided show the coin raw and from when it was slabbed before it was cracked out just to show the finest grading service in the hobby confirmed the coins as AU Details and corrosion that had been there at some point, was removed thereby impairing the coin from a numerical grade.

Full disclosure: This coin was submitted to PCGS and came back AU Details, corrosion removed. I believe this is around star 1 on the obverse. Looking at the coin from a very low angle along the surface, there are a couple of white flecks that may also be this removed corrosion. I was more concerned with a small faint patch of hairlines buried under the patina in the upper right quadrant of the obverse, but they did not make any notation as to the coin having been improperly cleaned. I cracked the coin out to soak it in acetone but I don't believe there was any contaminants to neutralize
