I love obsolete coins, especially the wacky denominations no longer offered, like this two-cent piece from 1864. Supposedly minted to allow for a single coin to purchase a postage stamp, the two-cent piece was only minted for ten years. There was a relatively high mintage in 1864, the coin's first year, and thus these are relatively common in lower grades. Nice specimens are harder to come by, but still affordable. This one is a great way for a beginning collector to get an unusual coin in a higher grade.
Grade: I judge this coin to be XF-40, but you be the judge. I examine coins under a microscope and evaluate them according to PCGS Photograde Online and Official ANA Grading Standards for United States Coins by Kenneth Bressett. But I am not a professional coin grader. I provide high quality pictures so you can decide for yourself.
Offers: I am always willing to receive offers. I may not accept your offer, or may counteroffer, but I think two people who share the same interest ought to be able to have a conversation about it.
Photos: I take all my own pictures of the actual coins I list. I use a Nikon Z7 with a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 lens and Godox flash to capture high quality images. I never use stock photos, and I do not manipulate the images to make them look better than the actual coins.
My Standards: I only list coins that I would want for my own collection - high-grade and low-mintage/key date coins. This means I do not have a lot of coins listed at any one time, but they are all keepers. If you have questions about this coin, please ask. I also write all my own product descriptions; I never use AI or cut-and-paste someone else's text. All of this means I strive to be honest and trustworthy. I want you to be completely satisfied with your coin purchase. If you are not, for any reason, please contact me immediately so I can make it right.
About Me: I've been collecting coins for decades; now that my teenage son is also collecting, we decided to start a family business. When you purchase from us, you support our family and my son’s education. We’re eager to share our love of coins and want to make sure you have a fully positive experience. Thank you!
