Item Description
Details of a mid-grade AU, this was recovered out of a lot of coin long stored in a leather purse. As commonly occurs with this type of storage, the surfaces were covered by "purse gunk", which I removed with a coin safe solvent. This material/contaminant is caused by a breakdown of the interior rough side of the tanned leather over time in the presence of moisture. Once removed, the surfaces looked a bit dull, not horribly but enough to make the coin look a bit "flat", so I treated the surfaces with Coin Care. This can easily be removed by a new owner should they choose with Acetone or something similar (won't hurt the coin). The Obverse die was a bit old as it shows two small areas of cuds on the rim. An old scratch on the Reverse is noted.
