This is a replica of the 1866-S Liberty Head $20 TWENTY D. Double Eagle that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. Liberty Head Double Eagles were minted from 1849 to 1907. From 1849 to 1866, they displayed NO Motto on the reverse. Those minted from 1866 to 1876 displayed the Motto (In God We Trust) above the eagle on the reverse. In 1866, both designs were minted; those with the Motto, and those without the Motto. This specimen is missing the Motto on the reverse, and only 120,000 of this design were minted in 1866 by the San Francisco Mint. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare piece for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The replica is made of brass with gold plating. It weighs 18.93+/- grams, and is 34+/- mm in diameter. Please bid with confidence based on my 100% positive feedback on eBay for over 10 years. Shipping is by USPS First Class Mail and is FREE.
