Offered for sale is an 1868 Shield Nickel with the Reverse of 1868. According to Cherrypickers' Guide, "To identify the 'Reverse of 1868' varieties, simply look at the star at 12 o'clock. If the star points to the E of STATES, it is the more common 'Reverse of 1867'. If it points to the S, it is the 'Reverse of 1868'. It is estimated that only 10% of the 1868 Shield nickels have the 'Reverse of 1868'. There are 6 different varieties of the 1868 reverse, this coin is the FS-901 variety, it has a broken lower serif on the C in CENTS.
