1870 Indian Head Cent Tough Date PCGS VF25 Very Choice Original
Tough date 1870 Indian Head Cent freshly graded PCGS VF25. Just back from PCGS where this coin graded VF25. This is NOT the Shallow N variety as can easily be seen in the photos.
Tough coin to find in any graded above VG. Finding one in a PCGS VF holder is similar to a Sasquatch sighting. PCGS Population in VF25 is 71 with 48 coins graded VF20. Not a lot when you look at the VF pops of the top 20 dates in the series which are mostly deep into the 3 digit numbers.
PCGS Price Guide in VF25 is $325 and Greysheet Bid/Ask is $220/$285
Smooth, medium brown surfaces with nary a distraction. No signs of corrosion or verdigris, no scratches or dings - no spots. even when these coins are certified in a top tier holder, they are very often have some sort of issue that is either overooked, deemed not severe enough to details grade the coin, or is borderline and net graded. But..... Not this time! VERY Choice example, conservatively graded and with superb eye appeal. Get it while it's hot!
As always, SAM's Coins & Heavy Metal DOES NOT use stock photos. The coin in the pictures is the exact coin you are bidding on and will receive.
I use PCGS Photograde and The Guidebook to Indian Cents to conservatively offer my opinion of the grade. Please formulate your own opinion of grade based upon the high-resolution images provided.
