1871-CC Liberty Seated Dollar, 'COPY' Stamped on Reverse

This is a replica of the 1871-CC Liberty Seated Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. The replica has a reeded edge like the standard-issue Mint coin. The Liberty Seated Dollar was minted from 1840-1873. The 1840-1865 dollars did not display the Motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. Dollars minted from 1866-1873 displayed the Motto on the reverse above the eagle. In 1871, the Carson City Mint produced ONLY 1,376 of these dollars. This is a way to get a copy of this rare coin to fill a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The replica is made of copper with a silver plating and weighs 26.77+/- grams.
