This is a replica of the 1871-CC Variety 4 Liberty Seated Half Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. The Liberty Seated half dollars were minted in five different varieties. Variety 4 was minted from 1866 to 1873, and from 1875 to 1891. Variety 4 displayed the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above the eagle on the reverse. During 1871, the Carson City Mint issued only 153,950 specimens of this variety. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes.
