Sharp for the date although the typical softness in the wreath on the Reverse, mark free overall with decent surfaces. The "streak" on the Obverse is an area of different metallic composition due to improper alloy mix. This is fairly common to the era, as all the planchet stock used for these coins was recycled from melted 1864-1870 coinage. This oddity was due to a flow-back problem after the Civil War, when hoarded U. S. coinage was dumped back into the banking system. PCGS has an interesting article by Rick Snow about this if you wish to read it. This comes with an Eagle Eye seal of approval by the same author, plus the photo certificate to match. This is a "quicky" listing I threw together in between shows, so the images used may not be up to my usual standard. Please note that due to value this will require Insured shipping with Signature Confirmation, hence the S&H shown.

This seller has enabled "Manual Invoice Approval" on their account. This means that after you complete checkout, you will NOT be automatically redirected to PayPal (if applicable) and will not be able to complete payment immediately. Instead, the seller will review the invoice and may, or may not, add or subtract additional charges, as explained in their policies and/or listing description. When the invoice is updated and approved by the seller, you will receive an automated email notification later, and you will be able to pay the updated invoice as you would normally.
All checks must clear prior to payment of purchase, which may take up to 12 Business days. IF YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE ITEMS, PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE PRIOR TO PAYMENT. I combine all shipping charges to the minimum necessary to get purchases to the customer. Please be aware that the USPS has recently increased postage for package shipments and Insurance - $7-$9 for shipping may look like a lot, but it barely covers my actual cost. If you have any questions, just ask.
