Item Description
Original light brown surfaces with obvious signs of original planchet color in the protected areas around the lettering and wreath. To show the variability of production at the Mint, and subsequently how coins are graded, this coin is not quite as well struck as the other PCGS AU-55 example (#2823689) I also have listed, as far as the Obverse goes, however shows a stronger Reverse. The non-CAC coin is probably technically AU-58 for wear, however the brightness and more obvious luster on this coin is what got it this coin the “bean”. CAC tends to prefer light, bright Bronze coinage that show some signs of original planchet color. The PCGS images were not accurate as far as the actual color of the coin, so I have included my own.
