This is a replica of the 1873-S Seated Liberty Dollar that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. Liberty Seated Dollars were minted from 1840 to 1873. The Liberty Seated Dollars that were minted from 1840 - 1865 did not display the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. The Liberty Seated Dollars from 1866 through 1873 displayed the motto above the eagle on the reverse. In 1873, the San Francisco Mint issued the Liberty Seated Dollar but only 700 were known to be minted. This date/mint is unknown to exist in any collection. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes. The replica is made of copper with silver plating and weighs 22.03+/- grams.
