• 1873 Three Cent Nickel, Open 3, Circulated FINE/VERY FINE (consigner graded)
• Full "LIBERTY" visible
• Composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel
• Philadelphia Mint, (Mintage of 783,000)

GENERAL COIN FACTS/DESCRIPTION:  3 cent nickels were struck from 1865 through 1889 and designed by James B. Longacre. Despite a production range spanning a quarter century during a period in US coinage history when designs were typically modified in one way or another, the 3 cent nickel retained its same general design for the course of its time.

On the Obverse a Romanesque Liberty is portrayed facing left with “LIBERTY” emblazoned on her crown. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” appears on the periphery with the date at the bottom.  On the Reverse the roman numeral “III” is centered in the design surrounded by a large wreath tied with a bow at the bottom. This design is one of few American coins without wording on one of the sides.

General Notes: As noted above, the beginning of production for the Three Cent Nickels in 1873 used dies with a small date, similar to the years prior, making the three look like an eight. The mint then fixed this problem. This variety is more scarce than its Closed 3 counterpart.

PAYMENT

Buyer agrees to pay the Closing Bid Price or Buy It Now Price in US Dollars.  PayPal is the Preferred Payment Method.  Payment is due within 24 hours from the close of the Auction or purchase via Buy it Now.  We reserve the right to re-list the item if payment is not received within the time frame allowed.

SHIPPING

Buyer agrees to pay the Shipping Fee in US Dollars.  Shipping Fee includes actual postage to your destination.  Your item will be carefully packed and dispatched within 24 hours (Mon.-Fri.) of receiving payment.  Most items will be posted out the same day if payment is received before 3 pm. Insurance is not a standard practice, however, if you prefer to insure your item for shipping please indicate BEFORE payment. We use USPS for all shipments; we ship only to the 48 contiguous United States.

RETURN

If you are not happy with your item please return in the original packaging and with all tags attached within 14 days. Items must be returned postage paid. Refund of purchase price will be refunded by the same method as the payment was made. Postage and packaging will not be refunded.

If your item is faulty or we have sent you something different to what you ordered, again please return it to us within 14 days and we will give you a full refund or replacement (if available); including postage and packaging.
