This is a replica of the 1874-CC Variety 5 Liberty Seated Dime that is marked 'COPY' on the reverse. The Liberty Seated dimes were minted in five different varieties. Variety 5 was minted in 1873 and 1874. Variety 5 displayed arrows at the date on the obverse to denote the change in weight from 2.49 to 2.50 grams. During 1874, the Carson City Mint issued only 10,817 specimens of this variety. This is a way of owning a replica of this rare coin for filling a spot in a collection, or for educational purposes.
