1879 is the first of the long series of "common" Indian Head Cents that finish out the series (excluding, of course, the 1908-S and 1909-S cents). The United States economy grew at such a rate after the 1870s that even the reissue of redeemed, older cents could not diminish the demand for millions of additional pieces annually.
