PQ all the way. we personally believe these old holdered coins are graded much more conservatively than today's more liberal 'market grading' and it would likely upgrade. 1884 Philly half eagles in MS63 and above are rare and not often offered. this is a true bright and lustrous original beauty, a well above average piece for the grade with eye appealing satiny luster, definitely worthy of a good premium. this beautiful little lady has fully original bright mint bloom luster and nice eye appeal, so nice that it fits in and holds it's own with my MS64-MS65 half eagle set. it is strongly struck to boot, and has the eye appeal of a gem grade piece. if you love strike, luster and eye appeal all rolled into one, this is the coin for you at any price. although it used to be thought of as a common date, population numbers show a different story altogether- this is one of the biggest sleepers of the era in my humble opinion. how rare is it? it has a very low population of 24 in MS63 and only 6 graded higher. the NGC online priceguide lists an average MS63 at $2,000.00. this is a premium coin at a premium price but what a beautiful rarity you are getting for your money. this one really is pretty, just try to find a nicer looking 1884-P half eagle for your set at a better price.

Why buy our extra coins for your collection? Simple- because we are collectors looking for beautiful high quality coins for our collection, not dealers looking for a quick buck here on the internet's biggest dealer dumping grounds. If it wasn't above average, top of grade or downright undergraded, we didn't buy it. If it was rare but has problems and we're now selling it, we will describe it as such, otherwise you can expect a nice eye appealing coin for your money and a money back guaranty that you'll love it as much as we did. We love this hobby and want you to enjoy it as much as we have all these years too!

Policy: Payment due upon purchase. Please do not buy if you don't intend to pay immediately. If you need more time or would like to arrange a lay-away, we would be happy to work with you. 3 day return privilege (item must be postmarked for return within 3 business days after it arrives in your box), buyer pay return postage unless we made a mistake in the listing. (Grades are nothing but opinions no matter who is offering the grade. Grading differences are not considered mistakes, please see the photos and put your own grade on it before buying.) Any coin removed from our sealed holder is considered sold and not returnable.
