This coin is an 1885-CC US 90% Silver Morgan Dollar. It was graded by PCGS as MS63. The Carson City Mint issued only 228,000 Morgan dollars during 1885. This is one of the coins issued by the General Services Administration (GSA Hoard) in 1972. They were found during an audit by the US Treasury Department in 1964. This coin was removed from the original GSA holder by PCGS and placed in one of their holders. The coin comes with the original GSA box and Certificate. The actual number of Morgan Silver Dollars that still exist today from the mintage years of 1878 through 1904 remains unknown, as huge numbers of silver dollars were melted under provisions of the Pittman Act of 1918.
