1886 (P) Morgan Silver Dollar. Brilliant Uncirculated. VAM B6 as found on www.vamworld.com. This variety lots a number of die cracks and die clashes on both the obverse and reverse. It also features the high 6 of the date. SO IN COMPLETE DETAILS.........................
On the obverse of this variety, the die clash (in a southwest to northeast direction) is seen at where the neck and chin intersect, and also directly in front of the mouth. Die cracks are located from the tip of Lady Liberty's cap to the U of PLURIBUS, from the lower hair above the lowest star on the right side, and extending through the hair toward the star under the letter M of UNUM. There is also a die crack extending from the first 8 of the date, through the 1, through the tip of the bust, then through the lower left stars.
On the obverse, two (2) die clash marks show up as parallel "tracks" extending from the letter N of IN extending downward toward the eagle's right (viewer's left) wing, between the eagle's left wing (viewer's right) and the leaves, and by leaves to the left of the eagle's right (viewer's left) wing. There is a noticeable die crack extending from the F of OF, through the tip of the wing, and to the first A of AMERICA.
I apologize that my digital camera does not show all of these details as clearly as I would like.
Simply stated, this particular coin has all of the die clashes and die cracks noted with the VAM B6 listing at www.vamworld.com with the exception of the "N" obverse die clash which is absent due to die erosion. There is also some light golden toning present on both sides of this coin, with full and complete mint luster present..
In closing, it should also be mentioned that this coin at one time was probably encased inside a "top of the line" folder with both the coin's obverse and reverse visible with a plastic slider on either side. There are several very fine yet barely noticeable scratches on Lady Liberty's cheek as a result which is one of the disadvantages and hazards of using a folder like this. In my opinion, these scratches ARE NOT the result of a purposeful cleaning as I only see these scratches in the cheek of this coin, and nowhere else on the reverse or the obverse. Just being totally honest here with my satisfied customers!
