This is another high mintage date that is plentiful in most grades. Collectors should look beyond the certified grade alone to find an example displaying a sharp strike from an early state of the dies. The coin illustrated, while lustrous and attractive overall, reveals pebbly, worn dies and areas of incomplete striking.
There are numerous repunched date varieties for 1903, but all of them are fairly minor and of interest only to specialists.
