John Feigenbaum's The Complete Guide to Barber Quarters states, "Scarce, but not as tough as the 1905-O. A good date in AU and MS. Comes with a good strike and often proof-like. Some have planchet striations. Undervalued in most grades except gem. Though it comes nice, I have seen very few flashy certified coins. Most have had mottled toning or been dipped out."
This 1905-S Barber Quarter is one of the nicer-looking coins of this date seen in VF.
