1909-S Barber Half Dollar With Inverted (Upside Down) Mintmark. Fine 12 Grade. This popular variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2, indexed as FS-50-1909S-501, and can be found on page 267. As seen in the attached photos, the wider portion of the mintmark that normally would be seen on the bottom side of the mintmark is on the top side on this variety. Original surfaces that have not been messed with. All 7 letters in the word LIBERTY are clear and readable as are the words E PLURIBUS UNUM on the reverse. According to the PCGS website, the current market value for a "normal" copy of the 1909-S Barber Half Dollar in Fine 12 Grade is $110.00. Of course, the coin available here is NOT the normal copy. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
