Item Description
Very well struck for the issue, with full hair on Liberty, full star radials and 90% of the corn ear. An extremely light surface planchet flaw right behind Liberty's head, shown in the third image provided. Like many survivors, this shows an extremely light cleaning with some hairlines visible if you look for them (when you tip the coin to the light). Oddly enough, the color is about what I would expect for the issue, so the cleaning did not do much damage; it may have just been "wiped". No actual wear, i. e. no metal removed from the surface, and some luster can still be seen. The combination of the planchet flaw and the hairlines means this is a no grade at PCGS or NGC, so I did not bother. Offered at a price that makes me money, you can decide if you want to call it "Unc" or Choice AU. There is remarkably little spread between grades for this date from AU to a low end Unc in any case. I will note that I should not have any trouble selling this coin at a coin show "sight seen" for about the same amount (allowing for the difference ebay fees make).
