1914 Barber Half Dollar PCGS G4 Key Date 2 Full Rims
The 1914 Philadelphia Barber Half Dollar is one of the most well-known low mintage 20th century coins. Always popular even in the lowest grades, this example has been graded by PCGS as G4. Only 124,000 coins were minted for the 1914 Philadelphia Barber Half Dollar.
It has long been recommended, especially to newer collectors, or collectors unfamiliar with the Barber Half series to buy a certified example of the 1914-P Half Dollar due to the high number of removed mint marks (from the 1914-S) Half Dollar which is far less valuable than its sister, the 1914-P. Well.... here is your chance to sock one away. And.an affordable one at that! Wholesome, original, certified, key date... sounds like all the making for a wise collector (investor? I hate that term in numismatics, but that's just me)
The coin has 2 full rims, and that usually will result in a G6 grade 90% of the time. However, there is a scratch at the bottom of the reverse going through the H in Half (Dollar). I am going to speculate this coin, being wholesome, original and otherwise completely problem free, was net graded to a G4 for the scratch. I could be wrong, that is just my personal suspicion.
