Here is a 1917 P Buffalo Nickel that seems to have buried in the ground or kept in someone's cellar for some time. While it has been submitted to PCGS for restoration, even they were unable to remove all of the junk coating this coin. Because of this, they have graded this coin as XF Detail since, as you can see from the photos, the junk prevents them from giving a good numerical grade. (I prefer to think of the junk as a preservative until the day when someone invents a solution that will remove the junk without damaging the coin.) You can also tell from the photos that, like so many other Buffalo Nickels, the front is offset from the reverse by just a couple of degrees, although not as much as many other coins. PCGS indicates that an XF 40 coin would be worth $18 and USACoinbook warrants that if you were to purchase an XF 40 coin from a dealer that you would pay approximately $17. However, because of its current degraded condition, you can have this coin for only $9 (plus shipping).
This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
To ensure delivery, this coin will be sent via Certified Mail.
If ordering multiple coins, please note that the system only allows for those instances where you might buy more than 1 of a given item as opposed to buying multiple items. Thus, if you buy more than 1 item (or coin) from a vendor, you could be socked with what seems to be outrageous shipping costs. To overcome this, order all of the coins you want, but do NOT pay yet. I will then go in and adjust the invoice to bring the shipping costs to a more reasonable level. At this time you should pay me.
If paying by check or money order, this coin will be shipped once funds have cleared.
Thanks for looking.
