1917 Standing Liberty Quarter T2 PCGS Unc Detail Cleaned Great Toning Looks Original

Better date 1917 Type 2 Philadelphia Issue Standing Liberty Quarter, just back from PCGS where it was graded PCGS Uncirculated Details, Cleaned.

I will say my submissions to PCGS have a ratio of 93% to 7% as far as coins graded problem free with a numerical grade to coins that come back with a Details Grade.. Many times I expect the coin to be details graded for instance when I want the coin in a holder to show it is genuine like for a very expensive key date coin.

In this case, I was not expecting this to come back as Cleaned. It has wonderfully appealing natural album toning  that accentuate the fully struck designs. There doesn't appear to be any evidence the coin was over dipped (I dint dip it as I do not dip coins. I strongly prefer original surfaces, even when ugly over dipped coins). Rather than whine or complain, I always try and reevaluate the coin to see what PCGS saw. After about 10 minutes of looking at the coin closely, when you hold and tilt the coin in strong light at the perfect angle, there are a very faint and small patch of hair lines in the right obverse field. Not being able to find any other evidence of cleaning, I would have to assume that was what PCGS saw when they deemed this one to be cleaned.

What I can almost guarantee is anyone who loves the look of album toned coins with wonderful original mint luster - this one is sure to please. I am even discounting it accordingly. The last 5 MS62's have all sold for between $228 and $324 and that was between November, 2021 through March, 2025.

The coin in the photos is the exact coin you will receive.
